The Tabernacle
A portable sanctuary — the first dwelling God asked His people to build so that He might dwell among them.
The tabernacle was tent, court, and covenant made visible. It moved with Israel, was pitched at every encampment, and was ordered so precisely that the pattern itself became doctrine. Its courtyard measured one hundred cubits by fifty, its tent thirty by ten by ten, and at its heart lay a perfect ten-cubit cube where the Ark rested.
"Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle" (Ex 40:34). The pillar of cloud by day and fire by night rested upon it.
It served through the wilderness, the settlement, and the days of the judges. Its furnishings were eventually gathered into Solomon's temple; the tent itself passes out of the record.
